North Korean leader Kim Jong-un made a surprise visit to China, arriving in the border city of Dandong via a newly opened bridge linking the two nations, according to a government source reported by Yonhap on Oct. 24. A ruling party source told Yonhap that Kim appears to be planning to return home Saturday after visiting Dandong, and a South Korean ruling camp source said he may return to North Korea the same day. Yonhap also reported that Kim left Dandong, seen off by China's top political adviser, according to Xinhua. Korean media are closely tracking the visit, with KBS World noting it is Kim's first trip to China in more than a year.
