Terms of Service
Effective October 21, 2026
Please read Section 15. It requires most disputes to be resolved by individual arbitration, not in court, and waives class actions and jury trials. You can opt out within 30 days (Section 15.8).
1. Agreement
These Terms are an agreement between you and K-Signal (“K-Signal”, “we”, “us”) about your use of k-signal.com, its editions, answer pages, emails and other services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you sign in, you agree to them when you choose “Continue with Google”. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Who may use K-Signal
You must be at least 14 years old, and old enough to agree to these Terms where you live, to create an account. If you use the Service for an organisation, you agree to these Terms for it and confirm you may do so.
3. What K-Signal is
K-Signal is a search service. It finds what Korean outlets, blogs and communities are publishing, links to them, and writes short AI-generated summaries. We do not write or edit the news, and we do not control the sites we link to. Articles, photographs, names and trademarks shown in results belong to their owners; we show headlines, short extracts and small thumbnails only to identify and link to the original.
4. AI-generated content
Briefs, headlines on briefs, related questions and voice transcriptions are generated automatically by AI models and are labelled as AI-generated. They may be incomplete, out of date, mistranslated or wrong, and they may misdescribe what a source says. They are not news reporting, and not financial, investment, legal, medical or other professional advice. Read the linked sources and use your own judgment before relying on anything. You are responsible for decisions you make using the Service. If a brief is wrong, tell us (Section 17) and we will review it.
5. Your account
You sign in with Google or with a code sent to your email. Keep your Google account secure; you are responsible for activity under your K-Signal account. You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy).
6. Acceptable use
Do not: break any law or anyone’s rights; scrape, crawl or query the Service by automated means except through our published feeds, embed and MCP server within their limits (see Developers), or with our written permission; get around rate limits, access controls or security; overload, probe or disrupt the Service; reverse engineer it except where the law allows; use the Service or its output to build a competing service or to train AI models; submit anything unlawful, defamatory, infringing or harmful; or misrepresent who you are. We may limit, suspend or end access that breaks these rules or puts the Service or others at risk.
7. What you submit
When you type or say a question, follow a question, or write to us, you keep any rights you have in it. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it to run, improve and secure the Service, including showing questions and their AI-generated answers on public answer pages that do not identify you. Do not include personal or confidential information in questions.
8. Our content and marks
The Service’s software, design, text we write, and the K-Signal name and logo belong to us or our licensors. You may share links and short quotes with attribution. Otherwise you may not copy, republish or sell the Service or its content without permission.
9. Third-party sites and services
Links lead to sites we do not control; their terms and privacy policies apply there, and we are not responsible for their content, accuracy or practices. Sign-in can use Google, and some features use Wikipedia, Open-Meteo, Frankfurter and Cloudflare; their availability is outside our control.
10. Sponsored placements
Sponsored shortcuts and cards are labelled as sponsored. Advertisers are solely responsible for their ads and offers. A placement is not our endorsement.
11. Alerts
If you follow a question, we email you new stories about it, at most once every few days. Every email has a link to stop that alert.
12. Copyright and takedowns
We respond to notices of alleged copyright infringement and to requests from outlets and people about content we show, as set out on our Copyright & takedowns page. We end the accounts of repeat infringers where appropriate.
13. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT AND ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE OR ANY CONTENT, INCLUDING AI-GENERATED CONTENT, WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, CURRENT, UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE OR ERROR-FREE.
14. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (A) WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL OR INVESTMENT LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, HOWEVER CAUSED AND EVEN IF WE WERE ADVISED OF THEIR POSSIBILITY; AND (B) OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (US$100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
These limits apply to every theory of liability (contract, tort including negligence, statute or otherwise) and are an essential part of the bargain: the Service is free. They do not limit liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or, where the law requires, for intentional misconduct or gross negligence.
Indemnity. To the extent the law allows, you will defend and indemnify K-Signal against third-party claims, losses and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these Terms or misuse of the Service.
Time to bring claims. To the extent the law allows, any claim relating to the Service or these Terms must be brought within one year after it arises, or it is permanently barred.
15. Disputes: individual arbitration and class-action waiver
15.1 Informal resolution first. Before starting arbitration or a court case, the party with the claim must send the other a written notice describing it and the relief sought (to us through the contact form, topic “Legal”; to you at your account email), and both must try in good faith to resolve it for 60 days. Deadlines are paused during that time.
15.2 Arbitration. Except as stated in 15.4, any dispute, claim or controversy between you and K-Signal arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms, including their formation, scope and enforceability, will be resolved by final and binding arbitration before the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules and, where they apply, its Mass Arbitration Supplementary Rules, in effect when the claim is filed. The Federal Arbitration Act governs this Section. The arbitrator may award any individual relief a court could, and must follow these Terms. Hearings take place by video or phone, or in person in the county where you live if you prefer.
15.3 Costs. Fees are paid as the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules provide; your share of filing fees will not exceed what you would pay to file in court. Each side pays its own lawyers unless the law or the arbitrator provides otherwise.
15.4 Exceptions. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies, and either party may ask a court for an injunction to stop infringement or misuse of intellectual property or unauthorised access to the Service.
15.5 Class-action and jury waiver. YOU AND K-SIGNAL MAY BRING CLAIMS ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY CLASS, COLLECTIVE, CONSOLIDATED OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING, AND BOTH WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL. The arbitrator may not consolidate claims of different people or award relief to anyone other than the individual party. If this waiver is found unenforceable for a particular claim or request for relief, that claim or request (and only it) will be severed and decided by a court under Section 16, after the individual arbitration ends.
15.6 Severability. Except as in 15.5, if any part of this Section is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If this whole Section is found unenforceable, disputes go to the courts in Section 16.
15.7 Changes. If we change this Section, the change will not apply to a dispute that either of us gave notice of before the change. You may reject a change by telling us within 30 days of it taking effect, and the previous version will continue to apply to you.
15.8 Opting out. You may opt out of arbitration and the class-action waiver by telling us within 30 days of first agreeing to these Terms, through the contact form (topic “Legal”), with your name, the email of your account (if any) and a clear statement that you opt out of arbitration. Opting out does not affect the rest of these Terms.
15.9 Where you live. If you are a consumer in a country whose law does not allow you to give up your right to go to court, or gives you the right to sue in your own courts or to withdraw from an arbitration agreement (for example, in the European Union, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Korea or Japan), this Section applies only to the extent that law allows, and you keep those rights.
16. Governing law and courts
These Terms and any dispute relating to them or the Service are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to Section 15, the state and federal courts located in Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction, and you and we consent to them. If you are a consumer, this does not take away protections of the mandatory law of the country where you live, or your right to bring proceedings there where that law gives it.
17. Contact and notices
Write to us through the contact form, choosing “Legal” for legal notices. We may send you notices by email to your account address or on the Service.
18. Changes and ending
We may change these Terms. For material changes we will post the new Terms with a new effective date and, where appropriate, tell you on the Service or by email at least 14 days before they apply; continuing to use the Service after that means you accept them. We may change, suspend or stop the Service or any part of it. Sections 3, 4, 7, 8 and 12 to 19 survive the end of these Terms.
19. General
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. K-Signal is operated by its founder pending the formation of a company to run it; we may assign these Terms, including to that company or to a successor, without your consent, and they will bind and benefit it. You may not assign them without our consent. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remain in force and the provision is applied to the fullest extent allowed. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver. We are not responsible for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control. Translations are provided for convenience; the English version governs where they differ.
