North Korea said Thursday it test-fired a newly designed air defense missile system the previous day to confirm its technical capabilities, with the Missile Administration conducting the test overseen by Kim Jong-sik, a member of the party leadership. State media also reported a live-fire strike drill using long-range strategic cruise missiles, marking Pyongyang's fourth weapons test in a week, according to Yonhap and the Korea Times. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported the claims on Thursday, as covered by KBS World. Korean outlets are reporting the events factually, with Yonhap and the Korea Times leading coverage of the test and its timing, while KBS World notes the inter-Korea context of the announcement.
