North Korea has tested a "dispersal warhead" for a strategic cruise missile, state media reported Tuesday, following its recent test of a cluster bomb for ballistic missiles, Yonhap and the Korea Times report. The test was conducted by the Missile Administration, and Gen. Kim Jong-sik, a member of the Workers' Party of Korea's Central Military Commission and first vice department head, was present, according to the Korea Times. KBS World adds that the North also reportedly tested cluster warheads for strategic cruise missiles to assess their power and verify vertical-strike flight capabilities. The tests come days after the North tested a cluster bomb mountable on tactical ballistic missiles on Nov. 1, vowing to field various types of cluster warheads by year's end, Yonhap reports.
