Seoul police's cybercrime unit announced on October 26 that they arrested seven suspects who used generative AI to hack dozens of companies, including hospitals and universities, and stole about 8.2 million pieces of personal information. The ringleader, identified as A, was not an IT major but learned hacking with AI assistance. The suspects also allegedly demanded money from victim companies by threatening to leak the stolen data.
