Police have sought an arrest warrant for a woman in her 50s accused of stabbing a doctor at Severance Hospital in Sinchon, western Seoul, on Nov. 4. The Seodaemun Police Station applied for the warrant on Nov. 5 on charges of attempted murder, saying it judged there was intent to kill, after initially applying special assault charges. The Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office requested the warrant on Nov. 6, citing the gravity of the crime and risk of further offenses. The suspect, identified only as A씨, allegedly used a knife she had brought to attack a psychiatrist at the hospital around 4:40 p.m. on Nov. 4. Doctor groups have urged measures to protect medical staff.
