HD Hyundai's shipbuilding arm, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE), reported a third-quarter operating profit of 1.4472 trillion won, up 37.3% from a year earlier, on sales of 8.2862 trillion won (up 9.3%), according to Yonhap and Dong-A Ilbo. The operating margin rose to 17.5%, up 3.6 percentage points, driven by higher-value vessels, productivity gains, and strong engine/machinery and offshore plant results. At the holding company level, HD Hyundai's Q3 operating profit was 2.9197 trillion won, up 71.5% year-on-year, while HD Hyundai Heavy Industries posted 899.2 billion won, up 61.3%, Yonhap reports. Korean media frame this as a robust earnings season for the group, though Yonhap separately notes KSOE's net profit fell 11.4% to 777 billion won.
