80% of Korean judges encounter AI-generated fake precedents
A Supreme Court survey released Monday found that about 80% of South Korean judges have experienced cases where AI-generated fake or nonexistent legal precedents were cited. The survey, conducted by the Court Administration Office last month among 360 judges at various courts, showed that roughly 80% of judges handling civil, family, and administrative cases reported encountering instances where incorrect precedents were applied or nonexistent ones were fabricated and cited, according to Yonhap and the Korea Times. This marks the first such survey by the Supreme Court on the issue.
